Robert Joe Gledhill
March 25 1927 – April 7, 2017
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Robert Joe Gledhill of Vernon, B.C.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruby, as well as sister Rhoda Duncan, daughter Brenda (Don) and sons Robert (Pat), Jim (Sue) and Nelson (Mary ann).
Survived also by 5 grandchildren – Stephanie, Christopher, Trevor, Lucas and Matthew, as well as four great grandchildren – Kasia, Isla, Mila and Jaxon. Survived as well by numerous nieces and nephews,
and many close friends.
Bob was born and raised on the farm on Bradner
Road in Matsqui B.C.
Following a short stint in the Canadian Army, after discharge he was asked to run a small sawmill in Vavenby, B.C. where he settled, married and in 1949 took over and operated the Vavenby General Store
for 20 years. Selling the store in 1969, Bob went to work for Clearwater Timber Products in Vavenby and was the company carpenter for 16 years. He retired in 1987 to a small hobby farm, before moving to Vernon B.C. in 2002.
Bob was a life member of the Vavenby and District Branch #259 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and served as President on numerous occasions.
There will be no funeral service by request.
