District of Clearwater has a new director of finance.

Roxanne Shepherd will start work at the District office on Sept. 11.

Shepherd has 10 years’ experience in local government finance, several of those in senior positions at the municipal government and regional district levels.

Most recently she was chief financial officer with the Buckley-Nechako Regional District.

She has a degree in business management and her designation as CGA/CPA.

Other government-related experience includes emergency management and asset management.

The new director of finance is a lifelong learner, is a certified figure skating instructor and has volunteered as a dance partner for test days; she enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering for various organizations.

She looks forward to living, working and playing in Clearwater.

Shepherd is taking the place of former director of finance Wes Renaud, who left the District last May to work for Penticton as a budget analyst.

Janice Aver, a retired director of finance and a consultant for the Government Finance Association of BC, has been filling in since then.
