I moved to Clearwater from Ontario with my husband and two children in 2015. We’ve just celebrated eleven years in Canada and three years as Canadian citizens.
We chose Clearwater as the ideal place to raise our children and start a small agri-tourism business. Since moving here, I’ve served as a director on the Raft River School PAC and the Wells Gray Riders Association. I also volunteered at the evacuation centre during the 2017 wildfires.
I’ve worked in the financial sector for more than 20 years. As a senior finance manager, I’ve learned the importance of making investment decisions that deliver long-term value to the shareholders.
For the District of Clearwater, the members of the community are the shareholders and the council is the team that needs to ensure we invest in sustainable, long-term value for our community.
A council needs to be a strong team with diverse experiences, both locally and more globally. It should be a team that’s willing to seek out and listen to the perspectives of others and gather facts, as well as opinions, to be truly informed. I can play an important role on this team.
I’ll bring diversity of thought and an inquisitive, analytical mind. I can contribute financial expertise and experience in setting budgets and reviewing financial statements. I have a strong voice, a strong work ethic and a strong community spirit.
On Oct. 20, the community won’t be choosing seven individuals, they will be choosing a team and I would be honoured to be a part of that team.
