The Clearwater District Minor Hockey Association (CDMHA) had a total of 101 youth registered for the 2023/24 season. Those players will be putting away their hockey sticks and skates after a season of games filled with many highs and lows.

In March, Clearwater hosted the U18 league playoffs and the U15 district championships at the North Thompson Sportsplex. From March 2 - 3, U18 Icehawks played intensely through all their games, to obtain the title of League Champions. Their success in the tournament and in the season overall has given the Icehawks the opportunity to play

On the same weekend the U15 Icehawks were competing in their District Championships at home here in Clearwater. This comes shortly after a victory at league playoffs that were held in Chase. Unfortunately, despite their efforts the U15 Icehawks were not able to advance to the finals during the championship.

“They worked hard but it wasn’t meant to be. Good job, Hawks and congrats on bringing home two banners,” praised a post that had been made by the CDMHA, referring to the two banners the U15’s had won during league playoffs.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes at the CDMHA’s AGM, they are welcoming new director, Tyson Rotzetter. It is her intention to create a female development program within the CDMHA. Currently, they are looking for a Referee in Chief for the upcoming season, and will be providing information regarding registration very soon.

Those hockey players in younger age categories, have completed their games and practices have been concluded for the season.
