Clearwater RCMP responded to 24 calls for service this past week, which included a stolen roll of paper towel from a semi parked in Blue River and a local break and enter caught on home security cameras.

Detachment commander Sgt. Grant Simpson said on Monday April 15, 2024 at about 8:37 a.m. a local woman attended the Clearwater RCMP detachment to report that someone had added a mail forwarding address on her account with Canada Post.

She was not able to obtain the information from Canada Post regarding who had applied for this or what the new address was so she subsequently made the police report, said Simpson. Const. Klassen sent an email to securityandinvestigation@canadapost.postscanada.ca asking to clarify these questions and is awaiting a response.

The investigation is ongoing.

On April 16, 2024 a Lower Mainland male truck driver called police to report that he was parked in his semi in the rear parking lot of the Petro Canada in Blue River and had gone inside the store.

When he came out he noticed that the plastic tie on the trailer had been cut off and inside a roll of paper towel had been removed. Simpson added, “The complainant advised that because the numbered tie was removed it was company policy to report it to police. He advised that he didn’t hear or see anything and the store doesn’t have any video of the area in which he was stopped.”

Simpson reported that nothing of value was taken and there were no witnesses or suspects. The plate provided by the complainant showed that it was unattached and RCMP were unable to call back the complainant as he was travelling. It’s a reminder to ensure that your vehicles are secure while unattended.

Sgt. Simpson also shared that on Wed. April 17, 2024 at 11:59 a.m. a local woman called the Clearwater RCMP to report a break and enter at her residence in Clearwater. She advised that she was in Alberta but could see someone inside her residence on her security cameras. She added that it may also be the locksmith as they were going to be attending to fix her front door lock.

Const. Klassen attended and confirmed it was the locksmith in the complainant’s unit.

The call of break and enter was confirmed to be false and the complainant was updated.
