Warriors win first playoff game

The Saturday before last the Warriors traveled to Revelstoke to begin their playoff battle with the second place Grizzlies

Playoff season is upon us! The 2012 Peewee Rep Warriors finished the regular season in third place, playing in a very competitive league that saw Kelowna finish first and the Grizzlies from Revelstoke finish second.

Riding a roller coaster through the year, the Warriors have battled injuries, player absences, and ups and downs of self-confidence.

With a chance to finish second through a split in Kelowna they stumbled at the finish line. Coming up empty, and feeling disappointed the team has since refocused and is determined to make right.

The Saturday before last the Warriors traveled to Revelstoke to begin their playoff battle with the second place Grizzlies. The local team showed up nervous but took to the ice full of enthusiasm and fight. The team’s puck pursuit and willingness to battle for every loose puck was inspiring. After being tied at the half the Warriors took the play to the Grizzlies, taking the lead and never looking back.

The final score was 5 - 2 for the Warriors. It was a hard fought battle, and a total team effort. Scoring came from Nathen Weninger (two), Julien Dewy, Brendan Mucha and Patrick Walker. As always the team was backstopped by Nick Mcinnes, and defended by the grittiness of Hanna Wadlegger, Hudson Cobbs and Matty Lee.

Game two was played Sunday at the North Thompson Sportsplex. Look for results in a future issue of the Times or go online to www.cdmha.info to see the team how did. Also check the website for upcoming games so you can come out and support the Warriors.
