The Wells Gray Riders Association (WGRA) held its last gymkhana of the year on Sept. 22 up at the Upper Clearwater Farmers Institute arena in Wells Gray Park.

Even with the grey skies and light rain, there were 40 entrants that came out for a day of fun arena competition with their horses. Corey Bourque (a peewee division rider from Barriere) took out the hi-point prize in the jackpot over all the other riders in what was a super competitive event.

Riders finished qualifying for the year-end awards and also placed their votes on “most improved,” “most sportsman-like,” and “horse of the year.” The winners of these three events plus the overall winners in each category will be announced at the end of year banquet and annual general meeting, which is to be held on Nov. 23. The WGRA would like to extend a big thanks to all of our amazing sponsors — we couldn’t do events like this without you.
