Raft Mountain Skating Club performs to full house at North Thompson Sportsplex

Many of the skaters created their own routines

Raft Mountain Skating Club figure skaters took to the ice last Thursday for an end-of-year performance with a rock-and-roll theme.

Many junior and senior-level skaters donned 80s attire, black leather and big hair in an effort to “Rock the Ice” to hits including “Dancing in the Dark,” by Bruce Springsteen, “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac and “I’m Just A Girl” by No Doubt.

Skills improvement was lauded by coaches, and many of the skaters created their own choreography.

The skaters performed to a packed house, as most COVID-19 restrictions had been lifted before the big day. Parents, siblings and community members were excited to see the young skaters show their skills, cheering, clapping and taking video of the performance.
