Phillips, who is leaving Clearwater, has helped coach the Midget Ice Hawks hockey team.
The players decided they wanted to have one last game with him before he leaves.
"Ashton was an awesome assistant coach who gave his time even though he had no personal relatives on the team. He coached with me for two years. We will surely miss him," said Ice Hawk coach Tim Walker.
