Kids Learn to Fish Day coming to Johnson Lake

The event is aimed at kids ages five to 15, with all fishing gear supplied

The Kids Learn to Fish Day that has been held at Hallamore Lake over the past few years as part of the B.C. Family Fishing Weekend on the Father's Day weekend was not held this year.

However, there is an alternative.

Johnson Lake Resort is hosting its seventh annual free Kids Learn to Fish Day on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26.

The sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Sunday session being held if there are enough children registered.

The event is aimed at kids ages five to 15, with all fishing gear supplied. There will also be a barbecue lunch.

Kids will learn: fish identification, familiarization with rods and tackle, how to tie knots, how to cast and retrieve and how to handle fish.

Johnson Lake is 35 kilometres east of Barriere. Call 250-434-4111 for more information.
