Fishing Report: Year long bait ban in effect on some waters

The entire Clearwater River opened for fishing as of July 15

The entire Clearwater River opened for fishing as of July 15, although there is a bait ban from Falls Creek to Mahood River all year and from Mahood River to the North Thompson River Sept. 1 to July 31. No angling from powered boats is allowed below Falls Creek. You also have to release the trout and char and must use single barbless hooks.

We’ve received reports of good lake trout fishing on Mahood Lake. Down riggers, leaded line and slip weights on monofilament to get down deep with plugs and apex’s have been working well.
