Last weekend, the two local Pee Wee hockey teams hosted an eight team hockey tournament in Clearwater, with teams including the Williams Lake Shreddies and the Sponge Bobs, Kamloops Vikings and the Brawlers, Chilliwack Cobras, 100 Mile House Wranglers and the Clearwater IceHawks 1 and 2.

The three-day event made for some busy times at the North Thompson Sportsplex as the event was well attended. There were many talented skaters out there and some skilled goaltenders.

This all added up to some intense competition and spirited fans.

The playoff games placed the local Clearwater Icehawks 2 team against the Williams Lake Sponge Bobs for third place with some nail-biting action that ended the regulation time in a tie of 3-3; even with overtime the score remained the same.

A shootout decided the game with Clearwater’s Bayley Murray and Jackson Graffunder scoring to pull off the win.

The final game saw Clearwater’s Icehawks 1 playing for the first and second spots with the Chilliwack Cobras. This game also saw a close score, as well as more riveting plays to bring the Clearwater 1 team in a 4-2 victory.
