Below: Clearwater players struggle to keep control in front of their own net as a player from the national Russian women’s team takes a shot. They were taking part in a fun exhibition game at the Sportsplex late Wednesday afternoon between a team of female players from Clearwater Minor Hockey (plus a few alumni) versus the Russian national women’s hockey team. In goal for Clearwater was Maria Sorokina, a member of the Big Red Machine who became an honorary Clearwaterite for the game.  The score was a bit lop-sided in the Russians’ favour but both sides had equal smiles during and after the fun event. The arena was filled for the game and all those present were impressed by the Russians’ skills and speed.
