Re: Wes Morden’s letter, “Older, but not necessarily wiser”, Aug. 9th

Wes mentions, “Memory loss and poor bladder control are also unfortunate consequences of aging as I can attest.” I must say that I don’t have those problems, Wes, but I’m leaning towards believing that your problem is memory loss and poor bowel control that’s leading to your crappy outlook on life!

Wes mentions, “So Jim, we are all in this together, this aging process, but you and I have taken divergent political paths.” Of that I must agree. My path is a paved road with prosperity for all. Your path is a dirt road to nowhere and I sure hope the NDP and Greens have heard about GPS!

At the rate this so-called provincial government is going, next election they will be reduced back to two seats in the legislature for another 16 years!

A few letters ago you said, “I’m on the political left myself.” I informed you there is no left, just right and wrong. Now you want to be right and I’m wrong. My goodness, Wes, you have to make up your mind. Oh, that’s right, memory lost! Wes goes on to say: “Slash, burn and pave is one approach to development that I don’t think should apply to the 50 odd acres of property on the north end of Dutch Lake.” Being a faller for nearly 30 years, I take offense to “slash, burn and pave.”

However, selectively log, and develop the 53 lots that the property is approved for, generates a lot more revenue with development permits, building permits, and property taxes. The property could even afford a sewer system that could be connected to the sewer system that should have been installed around Dutch Lake 40 years ago!

Wes’ final statement, “By the way, Jim, the last I looked, neither you nor I will have to foot the bill for this property, at least not yet!” Wes, when I think of all the federal gas tax grants that have been wasted on stupidity I think, that at least not yet, came a long time ago.

On a lighter note, I must thank Sandra Holmes for her letter to the editor: “Times regulars bring welcomed levity”. Thank you for the kudos. I noticed you referred to Wes and I as Statler and Waldorf.” I’d like to put in my dibs to be Statler.

I think Waldorf suits Wes a lot better, not because it starts with “W”, but because it ends with “Dorf!!
