Parents take a stand against bullying

Please take a stand for our children. After all, it takes a community to raise a child

Editor, The Times:

As some of you may be aware our school is in need of some community support. When I ran into a problem at Raft River School I voiced my concerns on a Facebook info board and was amazed by how many other parents were in the same boat as me.

Someone suggested that we form a group, meeting with other parents to brainstorm ideas to help our school with bullying/violence/ safety. As the minutes went by the group got bigger and so did the support.

Now I am starting a non-profit organization. With our non-profit organization we will ask for some funding for our kids to bring them more awareness about appropriate and non-appropriate behavior, as well as seek out more volunteers for supervision. We also hope to get some ideas and solutions brought up on ways to keep our older kids entertained on lunch hour, as they are not allowed on the playground.

Our first meeting was held on Oct. 14. More meetings are planned. We would love all the support and involvement we can get from the community. Please take a stand for our children. After all, it takes a community to raise a child.
