Mayor encourages everyone to participate in Hockey Days

Hockey teams will arrive from other communities to play through the weekend of Jan. 21 and 22

Editor, The Times:

Council would like to invite your organization and those within it to "Celebrate Winter" and Clearwater Minor Hockey Days with us.

Hockey is an undeniable part of Canada- it's in our blood and it identifies us around the globe. In celebration of this event we are asking local businesses, groups and schools to be involved by encouraging staff, students and friends to wear a jersey, hat or shirt to support their favourite team during the week of Jan. 16 to Jan. 22.

Activities will include hockey games of all age groups (children, men and women). FREE Family Skate sponsored by Wadlegger Logging takes place Friday night, Jan. 20 at 5:45 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. and we encourage everyone that attends to wear a hockey jersey.

There will also be teams arriving from other communities to play through the weekend of Jan. 21 and 22. On Saturday night, the Minor Hockey Alumni Game will feature past and future stars.

During Clearwater Hockey Days, children will be invited to enter a coloring contest to win an arena party package, hockey school certificates and Kamloops Blazer tickets and also to enter draws for prizes and gift certificates.

Through healthy communities, it is important to promote physical activities and hockey is a big part of our community in the winter months.

We look forward to you joining in on community spirit and participating by either wearing a hockey jersey or taking in some of the activities at the North Thompson Sportsplex during this week.

For further information please contact the North Thompson Sportsplex at 250-674-2143.
