The conservative mindset which favours the privatization of all public sector areas is on full display in Ontario.

In this case, the Ford government is diverting billions of public healthcare dollars to private clinics and hospitals, as their solution to a stressed, underfunded public system. Not only does it siphon off money, but ultimately will attract trained personnel away from the public system.

If we are unwise enough to elect the Conservatives in the next federal election, the cancer of privatization will spread even faster, turning our ailing public system into a rump service of inferior quality for people who cannot afford the for profit private system.

Those of us who believe in the public system need to rise up to meet this corporate menace. The only political party in the federal parliament that fully supports the public system is the New Democratic Party, who predecessor, the E.C.F, was responsible for the establishment of our present public healthcare system. Both the Conservatives and Liberals have consistently cut facts on their contributions, 45 per cent to 20 per cent, since the 1970’s.

Yes the present public system needs to be modernized and that will only happen if proper federal and provincial governments pony up the cost. It is indisputable that a public system is the best way to deliver health care service to all citizens, so lets not let this system slip away into a two tiered system favour corporate health and the rich.
