Let’s see - so far from the Frontier Centre for Public Policy – non partisan of course.

There is no global warming. In fact there’s ‘global cooling’. In a short time there will glaciers creeping down the Thompson Valley. Just wait and see.

If there is global warming/climate change, then Canada will be the ‘winner’ – twice as much agricultural land as before – which we’ll damn well need as those south of us flood over the border to escape a land that as California and Texas are – as I write this – becoming virtually unlivable.

Heat, fires, and destruction. But then who is to say they would be better off here – after all B.C. is burning from end to end – oh well maybe they can plant some spuds up around the Arctic Circle and transport them down the Northwest Passage, which should be free of ice virtually all year around.

Government should stay off the bus – see Harding. Well, yes government ownership of bus transport should be the last resort just like guaranteed annual income. Then of course we had that iconic symbol of excellence – at one time Greyhound providing good service at a reasonable price; however, this is all long in the past. And Greyhound is now pulling out of not just B.C., but all of Canada!

So maybe some patchwork of private and public transportation could fill in? After all, the first priority is to move people around with a price they can afford.

The Brad Wall government in Saskatchewan didn’t mind subsidizing ‘big energy’ to the tune of millions. Remember when Ed Stelmach was trying to get a little more cash out of big oil in the form of slightly higher royalties.

“Oh no,” said google eyes, Wall will keep the royalties ridiculously low – which is why Alberta and Saskatchewan ended up so far in the ‘red’ = (Alberta six billion).

Wall has gone off to his just rewards with the Calgary ‘Petro thugs.’ Curly, Moe, and Larry are now in charge in Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Transportation company is gone.

However, as my waggish friend puts it – if we lifted all the tax free sponging from the Fraser, Frontier Macdonald-Laurier axis of foolishness we’d have enough money to subsidize a national transportation system and some money loft over.

Whether it made any profit or not.
