Fund our schools, not our prisons

Editor, The Times:

Time to raise our voices for schools not prisons. Everyone invested in public education; students, parents, workers, and everyone who wants the best for their communities, to call for the province, through their MLA, to invest in our education, not our incarceration. The budget cuts to our schools will only funnel more students into the school to prison pipeline. They will also cut much needed jobs and services from our schools. This is while there is a proposed federal government increase in prison spending. Young people and university students across the city have your voices heard for equity and fairness. Join in making clear what our province's priorities need to be.
