Committee invites businesses to Light Up

This Christmas we invite the business community to deck the halls and light up their storefronts

Editor, The Times:

To our valued business community –

This Christmas we invite the business community to deck the halls and light up their storefronts to create an incredible Community Light Up! Please join the Christmas Light Up Project in conjunction with Clearwater Rotary Club to celebrate the season with the spirit of bright lights and festivity!

On Sunday, Dec. 7, Rotary will hold its annual Christmas Light Up at the Information Centre. To follow their lead, the Christmas Light Up Committee will set up five light displays around the community, including a massive seasonal scene on the top of Dutch Lake Beach House. We are hoping that our local business community will get into the spirit of things and decorate their storefronts in preparation for Dec. 7.

Christmas Light Up Committee is being sponsored by District of Clearwater and United Way. A banner will be going up to promote the Christmas Light Up. Our goal is to engage our business community and expand into residential communities. In the winter, it tends to be a bit dark and our ambition is to change the winter environment to create a bright, visible and vibrant December season.

For all businesses that participate, the children involved with Success by Six will make paper snowflakes for your windows. Please let the District of Clearwater know if you are interested in receiving snowflakes.

Additionally, the business that is the brightest and most creative will win $100, which will be donated to a charity of their choice. The business also will receive a nice feature story in the DOC newsletter and local newspaper.

Let's build on what Rotary has started and go big in an amazing display of bright seasonal festivity during the month of December.

To help achieve this goal, both Home Hardware and Rona are offering special pricing on lights ordered by businesses that participate. Just place your order by Nov. 17 to secure this offer.

We look forward to your participation and working together to create a sensational season!
