Beginning the Battle of Blackpool

My immediate thought was, "Holy crap! Trump just nuked one of B.C.'s dairy farms"

Editor, the Times:

A few nights ago, I was sitting on the patio listening to the distant banjo music and drumbeats when a large orange glow appeared in the southeastern sky.

My immediate thought was, "Holy crap! Trump just nuked one of B.C.'s dairy farms to reduce the imbalance of milk production between Canada and the USA!"

After getting over the initial shock, I realized it was just Wes Morden holding another NDP rally!

I really enjoyed Wes's letter to the editor dated April 17, but I think he was way too tough on Christy Clark and the Liberals. Just look at the wonderful track record they've had since being in power.

When the NDP was voted out in the nineties, the provincial debt was $l6 billion. Four years ago when Clark was elected, it was $66 billion. Four years later, and after five "balanced" budgets, the provincial debt is $71 billion.

Not bad Christy! I can certainly see why you deserve that $50,000 annual stipend the Liberals have been giving you!

All of that is just the tip of the iceberg; they also sold off government land, schools, prisons, and oh yes let's not forget BC Rail! Then there's the $6 million in legal fees for the BC Rail court case paid by the taxpayers.

Wes mentioned the millions of dollars spent on tearing up the education contract and the Supreme Court ruling that the Liberal government had to honor that contract.  Wes didn't mention who was the Minister of Education when the contract was torn up. That's right; it was Christy Clark.

I noticed that Christy Clark is always boasting that B.C. has the lowest income tax rate in the country. For the election run, that has been shortened to the lowest TAXES in the country. I don't think so!

Add the carbon tax that has given B.C. the disgrace of having the highest fuel prices in North America, and the ridiculous increases to ICBC rates, ferry rates, Hydro rates, environmental fees, the Site C fiasco, and the burst bubble of the LNG.

It was going to be the LNG that made BC debt free by 2020. Unfortunately, the LNG has only transformed Christy Clark from fairy godmother to wicked stepmother!

In closing, I would like to take Wes up on the offer to have a meeting in the centre of the roundabout. You call the date, Wes, and I'll bring lunch. How does this menu sound to you: a nice chilled bottle of wine, fresh roast caribou sandwiches with a side salad of lichen and spruce tips garnished with huckleberries?

Oh by the way, Wes mentioned the last load of logs in the roundabout from Clearwater Valley corridor. Question … was that a Canfor load or a load from one of the woodlots in the upper Clearwater corridor?
