Abortion clinics need government regulation

Governments need to provide thorough oversight of the abortion industry with regular and rigorous inspections and enforcement of health and safety regulations

Editor, The Times:

Dr. Kermit Gosnell 69, his wife Pearl, and eight employees were arrested on Jan. 19.

On Feb. 18 and 23 federal agents raided Gosnell’s abortion clinic to find gruesome conditions. The Grand Jury described it as “a baby charnel house.”

“Gosnell faces 39 criminal counts including third degree murder, seven counts of murder for killing living infants after birth, abuse of corpse, tampering with evidence, corruption, conspiracy, obstruction, racketeering and solicitation for murder,” according to a news report.

Gosnell’s Philadelphia clinic is not an aberration. Substandard and unsafe abortion clinics are currently operating throughout Canada and the United States. Per annum Canada has 100,000 abortions and the U.S. has over 1 million.

Governments need to provide thorough oversight of the abortion industry with regular and rigorous inspections and enforcement of health and safety regulations.
