William Watson

William David “Bill” Watson passed away on April 10, 2006 at his home in Vavenby, British Columbia. He was 68 years of age. Bill leaves to mourn his daughter Leah (Ken) Brown of Westbank, BC, son Paul Watson of Vancouver, BC, brothers Andrew Watson of Thunder Bay ON, Gary (Lana) Watson of Squamish BC, and Patrick (Rosemary) Gregoire of South Slocan BC, sisters Lillian (Brian) Gregoire of Calgary AB, and Roxie (Joe) Gregoire of Nelson BC, his grandson Bond of Westbank BC, nieces Lori, Sheri, Marci, Marnee and Zoe, nephews Clayton, Wade (Jaymie) and Lanny (Jaclyn) and great-niece Ivy. Bill was predeceased by his father, James Samuel Watson, mother, Jean Brooks Gregoire, stepfather Lucien T. Gregoire, sister Helen Catherine Rose, brothers George James Watson and James Francis Watson, and by his grandchildren, Angel, Stephen and Shane Freeman.


Bill was born Oct.2, 1937 at Fort William, Ontario (renamed Thunder Bay). His family moved to Red Rock Ontario in 1945, where his father James Samuel Watson died in 1948. The family then moved to Nelson, British Columbia, in 1952. Bill began working at an early age and returned to Ontario, where he worked in many industries. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force for two years and then returned to BC where he married Elaine Heibey, and had two children. Bill worked in various BC locations including Ocean Falls, Port Alice, Parson, Woodfibre, Squamish, and Clearwater. He was interested in sports and played several in his younger years; he was a good athlete and keen competitor. Bill also spent many enjoyable hours playing card games and billiards.


A Memorial Service will be held for Bill on Saturday, May 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at North Thompson Funeral Services. Arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, 73 Taren Drive, Box 2404 RR2, Clearwater, BC, V0E 1N0, ph. 250-674-3030.
