September 21, 1958 - June 29, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vaughn Andrew McCaig, in Clearwater BC at the age of 59, after a hard fought battle with Cancer. He died in his home on the morning of June 29th 2018.
Vaughn was born on September 21st 1958 in Fort Francis, Ontario, to parents David and Rena McCaig (both predeceased). He is also predeceased by his Step Mother Barbara McCaig.
Vaughn is survived by his wife of 34 years Kim McCaig and 3 daughters Kara McCaig (Richard Orr: Spouse), Prince George BC, Lisa McCaig (Phil Straub: Spouse), Sorrento BC, and Erika Lloyd (Matt Lloyd: Spouse), Lake Country BC. He had 4.5 Grandchildren Addilyn Straub, Owen Straub, Nicholas Lloyd, Owynn Lloyd, and an Unborn Grandson, as yet unnamed (Lloyd). He is also survived by his brothers Roy McCaig (Carol McCaig: Spouse) and Bishop Scott McCaig and step siblings Despina Kefalidis and John Kefalidis as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
He worked with the BC Forestry Ministry as a Forestry Fire Technician for 37 Years and was involved in approximately 75,082 fires. He was also a proud member of the Clearwater Search and Rescue. His hobbies included (but were not limited to) camping, hunting, gardening, bird watching, and carpentry, but he was happiest at home working on one of his (many) projects and surrounded by his family and dogs.
He will always be loved and remembered as a hard working, loyal and dependant individual and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to sincerely thank any and all family, friends, co-workers, and community members that came to the memorial, which was held on Sunday July 8th, 2018 from 11am to 3 pm at the Clearwater Royal Canadian Legion Branch #259, Bishop Scott McCaig Officiated.
We greatly cherish the memories that were shared with us, and grateful for the help and support we have received in this time of grief.
