It is with sadness and acceptance we say Rest In Peace to our dearest Shirley Diane MacDonald. She passed away on November 27, 2020 in the comfort of her beloved family home in Clearwater, B.C.
Diane was born in Kamloops, B.C. to Edwin and Jenny Nichols. The oldest of four siblings. She married the love of her life Donnie in 1969 and embraced her new life in Clearwater. Diane was a devoted Wife, Mother, Sister, Auntie and Friend. She kept the books for the family business, MacDonald's Custom Grading, while balancing the home and care of her adored four daughters.
As a Master Gardener Diane enjoyed tending to her veggies and flowers, and creating beautiful arrangements. Transplanting from her own garden she created beautiful flower beds for her friends and family. Diane loved going for her daily walks and believed in living a healthy lifestyle, which in season her day would begin in the garden nibbling on fresh peas, raspberries, and carrots.
Diane's pumpkins were saved for her famous pumpkin pies, her apples for her equally famous apple pies in which at family celebrations everyone hoped for leftovers to take home.
Diane loved sharing her walking adventures, seeking out her neighbors who would become her dearest friends. Diane had a passion for cross stitching and quilting in which she would thoughtfully personalize and gift. She won many awards for her skillful work.
Diane enjoyed reading and keeping memories alive through photo albums, scrapbooks and her daily journal. For many years Diane hosted a lady's Bible Study in her home. She always led by example with her Christian faith. Diane's favorite game was crib. She would always say, "It doesn't matter to me who wins, I just love to play crib!" Diane was also musically gifted. She played the guitar, accordion, sang and loved to dance. To witness her and Donnie grace the dance floor was mesmerizing.
Diane loved and cherished her precious grandchildren taking any opportunity to travel the miles by either plane, Greyhound or ferry to create unforgettable memories with them. Diane had a quirky sense of humor and if you were able to "tickle her funny bone" you would find yourself joining alongside her in an uncontrollable giggle fit.
Diane imprinted in everyone she met her optimistic, patient, fair, gentle, loyal, honest, humble, sweet, content, dependable, grateful, and unconditional loving character. She was, and always will be, our Angel forever.
Diane has left special cherished memories for her Daughters; Denny (Ed), Penny, Kate, Deanna (Bryan & Parker), Granddaughters; Jennifer (Matt), Ariel, Taylor and Cali. Sister Lilah (Dan), Nephew Richard, Niece Sherry (Troy), Step-Father Chuck, as well as many treasured Family and Friends.
Diane was predeceased by her one and only love, her Husband Donnie, her beloved Mother Jenny, and forever cherished Brother's Ronnie and Alan.
As per her wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to either the Alzheimer's Society of BC or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
