In loving memory

Richard (Ric) Kintzinger (August 24, 1955 – July 9, 2009)

Lovingly sent into the arms of Jesus on Thursday night, cared for by supportive family and friends at the Kelowna Hospice House. Ric was 53 when he passed away, ending his fight with ALS. Predeceased by his father, Henry, he leaves behind Mary, his loving, devoted wife of 33 years; daughters Erika (Benn) Humphreys, Rebekah (Martin) Pearce, and Alicia; son Josh (Beatrice Klotz); and grandchildren Isaac, Alexandre, Ashton, Lindsay and Zeppelin. Ric is survived by his sisters Petra and Sam (Richard) Willan, brother Roger (Vianne) and mother Erika.

Ric was known as a gregarious storyteller and roaring laughter followed him everywhere. He was steadfast in his endeavors and a loyal friend to anyone in need. Creative and dedicated to his work and family, Ric would use his out of the box thinking to surpass any obstacle. Ric loved the outdoors and took his family, cadets and scouts on many trips, always teaching and sharing his vast knowledge of canoeing, camping, and woodlore.

Although he lived many places throughout Western Canada, Ric made his home in Clearwater in 1988, where he lived with family until 2004, before moving to Kelowna to pursue his woodworking career. Ric leaves a trail of friends and will be remembered fondly by the countless people he befriended and helped along the way.

A celebration of Ric's life was held on July 15th at the Clearwater Community Baptist Church in Clearwater, BC. Special thanks to the ALS society, Hospice House, friends and family who were so supportive of Ric and his family over the past two years. If so desired, donations to the ALS society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
