In Loving Memory of

Marion Jane

McCARTHY

Marion McCarthy (née Beaton) was born in Herschel, Saskatchewan on May 6, 1926; she passed away suddenly at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC on June 10, 2009. Marion is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gerry; daughter Carol (Joel); son Grant (Claudia); grandchildren Nissa, Cory, Katie and Emily; great grandchildren Vanessa, Dorian and Sam; sister Maxine; and nieces Leslie, Maureen, Allison and Kelly, as well as many friends.

Marion left Saskatchewan in 1942, moved to British Columbia and began to work for the BC Telephone Company. For many years, Marion worked as an accountant for W. Freeman and Sons in Burnaby. In 1983, she and Gerry moved to Clearwater, BC. Marion dedicated her accounting skills to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 259 in the North Thompson Valley; the Legion paid tribute to Marion’s dedication by making her a Life Member.

Marion loved nature, animals, birds and flowers. She especially loved to paint, and many examples of her artistic ability can be found in her home and elsewhere. Marion also loved to discover treasures at garage sales in the community.

A Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 259 in Clearwater, BC. A Graveside Service will follow immediately at Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater, BC. Lloyd Strickland, Minister, will officiate. Family and friends will return to the Legion for refreshments and an opportunity to share memories of Marion.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the S.P.C.A. in memory of Marion McCarthy. Funeral arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Clearwater, BC, telephone 250-674-3030.
