It is with heavy hearts & sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Lyle Thomas Whitford on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the age of 73. Lyle was born in Vilna, Alberta on January 31, 1948.
His parents and five children including Lyle moved from Alberta to Clearwater in the spring of 1954. Lyle was 6. Lyle grew up in Clearwater on what we called flats, where he attended the elementary and the secondary schools. Lyle was a great track and field athlete. He enjoyed participating in the school track and field events, bringing home many first place ribbons and trophies.
In 1965 at the age of 17 he joined the military in Alberta, serving as a member of the Queens Own Rifles. He served overseas in Cypress for two years - 1966 - 1968.
Lyle will be missed by his large family of brothers, sisters, numerous nieces/nephews at least 75 plus of us, too many to name.
Lyle is survived by brother David (Roberta) Parsons of Clearwater, brother Carson Whitford of Kamloops, sister Gwen (Dennis) Rielly of Mission, sister Paulette (Ralph) Miller of Clearwater, sister Wendy Nordgren of Quesnel, brother Terry (Kathy) Whitford of Lantzville, sister Heather (Wilf) Nordgren of Calgary, sister Catherine, stepson Colin (Debbie) Kravontka of Clearwater, stepdaughter Tammy (Shawn) Macdonald of Birch Island, stepson Terry Krovontka of Clearwater, stepson Andy Kryzanowski of Birch Island.
Lyle was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Leatha Whitford, spouse Lorraine Whitford, sister-in-law Margaret Whitford, niece Rachel Nordgren, nephew Sam Whitford.
No service, but there will be a family/friend gathering at later this summer.
