Lorne Stewart

1926 - 2010


Lorne Victor Stewart, 83 years, born on August 18, 1926 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, passed away suddenly after a brief illness at his home in Clearwater, BC on April 25, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Richard (Carole), Allan, Barbara (Paul), and Ron (Cathy); mother-in-law Edith, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorne was predeceased by his father Albert, his mother Lillian and his sister Ella.

Lorne spent many years driving a truck and working in the forestry industry, finally retiring in Clearwater, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and camping at every opportunity. For the past 25 years, many summer days were spent with friends and family at the cabin at Lac des Roches.

Lorne made friends wherever he went and made a point of continuing these friendships over the years. Music filled Lorne's life and his love of music and his beautiful voice brought joy to many and will continue to do so in the years to come. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Lorne's life will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wells Gray Hotel (Conference Room), with Lloyd Strickland officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital or the charity of choice.
