Lizzie â??Elizabethâ? REMPEL

In Loving Memory of

Lizzie “Elizabeth”

REMPEL

August 14, 1927 – December 9, 2009

Elizabeth Rempel (née Doerksen) went home to her Lord and savior on December 9, 2009. She passed away at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, BC, after a brave struggle with liver cancer that was diagnosed in August of 2009.

Mourning Elizabeth’s passing are her children: Betty (Alvin) Traub, Marie (Jim) Janzen, Carol Naruse, Deitrich (Elaine) Rempel, James (Dolly) Rempel, Jacob (Laura Hankins) Rempel, David (Jacquie) Rempel; grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings and in-laws, as well as many friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her son Robert, two grandchildren, her sister, both parents, plus numerous in-laws.

Born on the family farm near Ratner, Saskatchewan in 1927, Elizabeth grew up, married and raised her family there until moving to Clearwater in 1960, where David was born. They bought a farm in Blackpool, BC, in 1962. After selling the farm in Blackpool, she bought a house in Kelowna, BC and later decided to sell and come home to Clearwater. She has lived here ever since.

Elizabeth was a member of the Hospice Society and the Women’s Institute in Blackpool. She loved going to the ball diamond and watching the games. She also did a lot of artex paintings and made little owls from big pine cones. She sold these at the info centre. In her later years, Elizabeth took the driver’s training course and got her driver’s license; she was very proud of this accomplishment.

Elizabeth loved everyone; she was kind and she raised children, grandchildren and adults! She loved to bake, cook, and she did crafting. She always said “If at first you don’t succeed, try again”, “Stick with it ‘til the job is done”, “Tell the truth and speak it ever, cost it what it will, he who hides the truth, does the wrong thing still.” Even though she had eight children, Elizabeth said she could never choose one over the other. She was not judgmental and she loved hugs. She was the “best” Mom ever, and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service for Elizabeth Rempel will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 23, 2009 at the Blackpool Hall, with Lloyd Strickland officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater, with family and friends gathering back at the hall in Blackpool afterwards for refreshments.
