In Loving Memory ~

Lillian Yvonne Bjorg Brown (née Johnson) born January 14th, 1931 - passed peacefully at her residence of Forest View Place in Clearwater, B.C., on Feb 5th, 2024, after a prolonged decline in health. She was 93.

Yvonne was born in St. Vital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Icelandic parents John and Jenny Johnson. She was proud of her Icelandic heritage, taking numerous adventurous journeys back to Iceland in her last 20 years, re-connecting joyfully with her mother's family there.

She was the youngest of 3 children born to John and Jenny.

She was predeceased by her 2 older brothers, Jack and Gerry - both of whom doted on Yvonne as she grew up. She often recalled fondly, how her big brothers watched over her protectively while they attended school in St. Vital.

Yvonne was the mother of 6 adored children: John (Eileen), Geraldine (Tom), Ted (Maureen), Jim (Joan), Linda(Rob), Leslie (Shelley), 16 grandchildren: Jonathan, Shandor, Jenny, Josh, Jacob, Noah, Tyler, Nick, Kurt, Mark, Jared, Robbie, Linda, Cassie, Alex, and Tommy, and 20 great-grandchildren.

After moving from Winnipeg, Yvonne lived on Vancouver Island, Kamloops, Point Roberts, Port Coquitlam, Abbotsford, and spent her last 18 years in Little Fort. In earlier years, and while in Little Fort, she enjoyed being an active member of the Royal Purple and Women's Institute, making lifelong friends in those organizations.

Yvonne was a talented, enthusiastic, and industrious crafter: knitting, crocheting, sewing, canning, and baking -- often submitting her creations to local craft and fall fairs, frequently taking home prizes. She was especially revered for her famous and fabulous buffalo wool socks -- distributed far and wide to her appreciative family and friends.

Yvonne/Mum/Amma will be forever treasured for her generous heart, her sense of humour, and her big gutsy laugh which she passed on to all of her children. She would often gaze around with delight at family gatherings, pronouncing loudly "I'm responsible for all this!"

Yes, Amma, you have provided a loving legacy for each of us... We will remember you.

Huge warm special thanks and appreciation go out to the immensely caring and nurturing staff at Forest View Place at the Clearwater Hospital, for their loving and attentive care of Yvonne during the last 2 years of her life. Our family is deeply grateful.
