In Loving Memory of

Lenard Campling Len

GALLOT

August 6, 1937 - June 23, 2008

On Monday, June 23, 2008, after a lengthy illness, the angels took Len Gallot for his last ride. Len was born at Eastend, Saskatchewan, on August 6, 1937. He grew up, went to a little school called Fairwell Creek, and farmed on the family farm until he moved with his wife and family of five children to Vavenby, BC, in 1966. All of the family’s furniture and machinery came to the farm in Vavenby by train from Saskatchewan. Len’s whole way of living changed in BC; he became a log truck driver for many years.

Len believed and taught his children honesty, modesty, kindness and sharing. He loved family get-togethers, his horses, his dogs Doc and Buck. He loved his times with family and friends in the Raft where he ranged his cattle. Len spent many hours reading his numerous books about Indians and pioneers. He liked people; many times strangers off the highway and ones who sought warmth in the chicken coop were given Bed and Breakfast. Most of all Len loved nature, people, and Western music; he lived life to the fullest.

Len was predeceased by his parents, brother George, son Gary in infancy, nephew Wayne Thorkman, and brother-in-law, Jim Laveck.

Len left behind Cecile, his wife of 52 years; daughters Debra (Jim) and grandsons Robert and Ryan; Gloria (Len) and granddaughters Tara and Lindsey; and Cindy and grandchildren Kyle and Jenna; sons Bruce and grandsons Randy and Kohl; and Larry and grandchildren Shawna and Lawrinda.

Following cremation, Len’s ashes will be scattered to the places he loved to talk about, and near his parents, grandparents and infant son at Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan.

A Memorial Service for Lenard Campling “Len” Gallot was held at the Vavenby Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Lloyd Strickland, Minister, officiated. Donations in memory of Len Gallot to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, 640 Park Road, Clearwater, BC, V0E 1N0, would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Clearwater and Barriere, BC, 250-674-3030.
