In loving memory of Kelsey Wade Baskier

With great sadness we regret to announce the sudden passing of a wonderful man, Kelsey Wade Baskier. Kelsey passed away on Tuesday May 16 in Kelowna due to a sudden heart failure.

Kelsey was born on January 21, 1977 in Deloraine, Manitoba to his parents Rick and Jo-Anne (Cummings) Baskier.

When Kelsey was five he moved with his Mom and Dad (Ken Tams) to Nakusp, B.C. Through his school years Kelsey attended school in Nakusp, Mackenzie, Stewart, Giscome, and back to Nakusp, where he graduated in 1995. After graduating Kelsey began logging in Clearwater, where he married Marilou Roy in 2006, making Clearwater his home. Kelsey became a very proud dad of Marilou’s daughter, Tori – the apple of his eye.

In 2006 Kelsey went off to Alberta to work on the pipeline for the next five years. He returned to Clearwater to work for Kinder Morgan. Alberta seemed to call him back. He loved his job on the pipeline as a field manager, so returned and worked for some great companies, ending his journey with Copps Inc. from Red Deer.

Wrestling was his sport in high school. He worked at it and did exceptionally well. Kelsey enjoyed outdoor sports such as hockey, baseball, golf, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and camping. Most of all hanging with the people he loved. Kelsey always made time to help whoever needed him.

Kelsey was predeceased by his biological father Rick Baskier in 2014, his grandparents on both sides, and his grandparents on his dad Ken Tam’s side, his uncle Ron, and his uncle Jim. Kelsey is lovingly remembered by his wife Marilou Roy Baskier, his beautiful daughter Tori Barstow Baskier, his handsome son Markus Stevens, mom Jo-Anne Baskier Phillips (Greg),dad Ken Tams, sisters Veronica Baskier (Kevin), Sandy Schmidt (Tony), brother Kris Tams (Carmen),Trisha Tams(Vernon). Step siblings Kim, Brian, Twyla, Becky(Craig) and Matthew( Melissa). His nieces and nephews Kaya, Makayla, and Keio Breda, Jordan, Kloe, and Benjamin Schmit, Gauge and Gibson Tams, Trent and Xzaviie Crossland, his auntie Sandy, Uncle Scott Kalanchey, cousins Jessie(Jessica) and Samantha (Dillon), and many more friends who loved him so dearly.

Service was held at the ski hill on May 27.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
