Jeannette Stockton of Clearwater BC died unexpectedly on January 8, 2011 in her home with her husband and daughter at her side. She was 71 years of age.

Born on September 13, 1939 in Yorkton Saskatchewan, Jeannette is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Murray Stockton of Clearwater, her son Kenneth (Claire) Stockton of Calgary Alberta, daughter Kim (Phil) Strickland of Clearwater, grandson Liam, sister Deanna Kohl of Vancouver BC, and brother Mitch (Sandi) Kohl of Terrace BC, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mitchel and Ann Kohl of Terrace BC.

In her life Jeannette worked as a secretary, telephone operator, veterinary assistant, and manager of the North Thompson Victim Assistance Unit. She said that her greatest job was to be a mom to her children and foster children, whom she loved deeply. Her new job as a grandmother was a most joyful one.

Jeannette is well known in the North Thompson Valley for her work with the Food Bank and a host of organizations over the years. She was very dedicated to her community, her church and her faith. She loved to cook and was always happy to feed people. Her garden was a place of particular joy to her. She loved to sew, knit and take pictures. In her earlier days she was passionate about art and loved to draw and paint. Mostly Jeannette loved people and believed strongly in helping others, a great legacy she left to all.

A memorial service was held for Jeannette Stockton at the Clearwater Community Baptist Church on Sunday January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.; a tea followed.
