1934-2020 ~ Jean passed away peacefully July 29, at the age of 86, at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, B.C.
Born in London, England, Jean was raised in King's Lynn where she met John. They were married in 1952 and emigrated to Canada in 1955. After a short stay in Alberta they moved to B.C. and eventually to the North Thompson Valley where they spent most of their lives.
Although born a 'city girl' in the mild climes of England, through her strength of character, mom became very adept at living the country life. She gardened and helped with all the work on the farm while also keeping a home for her family and sometimes working out in retail. The extremes of weather were never her favourite, but she tolerated the winters and the sun finally managed to turn her arms a little brown!
Mom enjoyed creating things with her hands and was a well-known participant in craft fairs. Her towels, trinkets, hand-knit socks and baby items were much sought after. Her quick mind and friendly smile made her a popular crib partner wherever she went and she loved to play cards! Mom easily made friends no matter where she lived and always enjoyed having people stop in for a visit and a coffee.
Predeceased by husband, John, in 2005. Jean is survived by daughters Christine (Bill) and Joyce (Stuart); grandchildren Stuart and Amanda; and her adored "girls", great-granddaughters Trinity, Harlee and Teagan.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the home care workers who assisted mom as well as the paramedics and staff at Dr. Helmcken Hospital who cared for her so kindly.
There will be a private graveside ceremony. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
