Isabel MacLennan

April 18, 2002

Isabel (Moss) MacLennan: July 12, 1918 to April 18, 2002. Born in High River, Alberta, she moved to Birch Island, B.C. with her family in 1929, where they operated the Canyon Creek family ranch. After completing her schooling in Birch Island, she attended Columbia College in New Westminster and Olds College in Alberta.


In 1938 she married Jim MacLennan. Isabel and Jim lived a year at Dunn Lake, where Jim worked at the Windpass Gold Mine and then settled on the MacLennan Homestead at Raft River. There they raised their family of six children, Peggy (Todd) Sloan, Jean (Peter) Jensen, Judy (Mattie) MacLennan, Warren (Heather) MacLennan, Lynda (Daniel) MacLennan and Mary (Steve) MacLennan. Isabel is survived by her sisters Lillian Addison, Theo Irvine, Margaret Donley, and brother Jim Moss, pre-deceased by her husband Jim MacLennan, November 6, 1997, grandson Damian Jensen, March 18, 1997, mother Glenna (Loblaw) Moss, and father George Moss. Isabel will be fondly remembered by her friends and family and missed dearly by her 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


We, Isabel’s family, extend our warmest appreciation to the Dr. Helmcken Memorial staff that have made her life comfortable over the past year and to the homecare support that assisted her stay at home.

A gathering to celebrate Isabels life will be held at a later date for her family. No funeral service is planned.
