Ernest ( Nicky) Vandenborre
Dec. 25, 1937 — Sept. 7, 2004
Nicky Vandenborre (born on Christmas Day, hence the nickname Nicky) was born in Vernon, B.C. and lived in Armstrong, where he married and had children. In 1967 they moved to Avola then finally to Vavenby.
Nicky passed away peacefully after a soothing back rub on Sept. 7, 2004. Nicky was in the presence of his loving wife and daughter. Nicky had a very rough battle with bladder cancer which took him slowly.
Nicky was a hard working logger and mechanic, and touched the hearts of many.
He would help anyone in need, even a stranger, and never intentionally hurt anyone and will be missed by all — to say the least, by his wife June; daughters Carol and Sheila; grandchildren Lori, Jeff, Dayna and Nicole; brothers Robert, Donald and James; sisters Lucy and Ruth and his father Fernand. He will be reunited with his deceased son Wayne.
We will miss your skills and long stories, but you have earned a long overdue rest.
There will be a memorial service at the Vavenby Hall at 1 p.m. Sept. 18,2004. Everyone welcome and the family hopes to see his business acquaintances there.
