Eleanor Fielden passed away peacefully at Mountain View Residental Care Home in Comox. She will be sadly missed by her four children, Lorene Connor, Darlene Gordon, Robert Fielden (Annette) and Richard Fielden (Katie) and her three grandchildren Karen Gomes, Shea Fielden and Will Fielden.
Eleanor was born in Massett on Haida Gwaii to Daniel and Johanna Sievert who emigrated from Germany in 1909. She was the fourth of seven children. Eleanor went to school in Prince Rupert and soon after training as a bookkeeper, married Roth Gordon in 1936 with whom she had two daughters. She married a second time to Joe Fielden in 1955 and had two sons. Throughout her life she lived in various communities including Vancouver, Campbell River, Kitimat, Kelowna and finally the Comox Valley.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Mountain View Residental Care Home for the excellent and compassionate care she received during the last four months of her life. Eleanor was able to live on her own to the age of 101 with the wonderful assistance of Judy Bouwers, Chris McCluskie and Colleen Schinkel. The staff at the Cumberland Lodge Adult Day Program were also great at adding to Eleanor's quality of life in her final years.There will be no service at Eleanor's request.
