JACOBSON, Edward Osten

Edward Osten Jacobson passed away peacefully at the Vernon Hospice House on April 21st, 2010 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

Edward was born on April 3rd, 1945 in Vancouver, BC and grew up in the Lower Mainland. His adventurous spirit took him to Little Fort, BC in 1970, where along with his wife and two young children they homesteaded and farmed in the back country. They went on to have two more children which completed their family. In 1978 his love for water drew him back to the west coast where they settled in their ocean front home on Palm Beach in Powell River, BC. He spent the next few years exploring the Lower Mainland and in the early 1990’s his journey brought him to the beautiful Okanagan Valley. He finally settled in Vernon, BC which became home for the remainder of his life. Here he spent time skiing on Silver Star Mountain, exploring wine country and creating his own piece of heaven here on earth.

Edward was predeceased by his mother, Riza Jacobson in 1963, and his father, Edward Jacobson in 1989. He is survived by his loving family: partner, Phil Gregory, children, Kelly Jacobson (Glenn) of Winnipeg, MB, Leah Tschritter (Rendal) of Prince George, BC, Katrine Colten (Marc) of Aberdeen WA, Jay Jacobson (Crystal) of Abbotsford, BC and their mother, Delores Harrison (Bill) of Abbotsford, BC, sister, Sonia Nevalainen (Arvo) of Bella Coola, BC, brother, Leonard Jacobson of Alberta, ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Vernon Hospice House for their amazing care and support during his final days. They would also like to thank the nurses with Interior Health for their help in keeping him at home as long as they could. Also, our thanks to all the doctors, nurses and pharmacists who were involved in his care over the past two years.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
