Edna Grace Gray (née Bennett) passed away on Feb. 11, 2008 at Forest View Place in Clearwater, B.C. She was 92 years of age.

Born in Kirriemuir, Alberta, Edna was a longtime resident of the North Thompson valley. She belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion in Barriere, B.C. and then in Clearwater, and she loved camping, hunting and fishing. She also loved to garden and took great delight in sharing her harvest with family and friends. Edna worked very hard to help bring the transit bus to Clearwater. She also had a strong desire to encourage increased recreation and entertainment opportunities for seniors in the valley.

Edna is survived by her sister, Inez Elliot; her children Jim (Lorna) Miller of Clearwater, Gordon (Susan) Miller of Lillooet, B.C., Wesley Bennett of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Gwen (Ron) Anderson of Clearwater; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, plus many, many friends.

Sadly, Edna was predeceased by her husband, John William Gray on Oct. 23, 1974; her brother Gordon Wilfred Bennett on April 1, 2003; her father, Ivan Bennett on September 15, 1975; her mother, Iva Bennett (née Stewardson) on November 26, 1926; and by her great grandsons, David Brennon Downey and Buzz Bennett.

Following cremation, a Memorial Service for Edna Gray took place on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Clearwater. Lloyd Strickland, Minister, officiated. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater B.C., in the springtime. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Edna Gray’s memory to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Forest View Place, 640 Park Drive, Clearwater, V0E 1N0, would be appreciated.
