In Memory of
October 2, 1922 – July 20, 2010
Deitrich “Dick” Rempel was born in Lost River, Saskatchewan, on October 2, 1922. He was brought up in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan and married Liz Doerksen in Lost River on December 3, 1944. They raised eight children – five boys and three girls, and they owned and operated a mixed farm in Saskatchewan. Dick moved to BC in 1959 and brought his family out here on June 11, 1960. Dick worked for a rancher at first and then for Archibald Sawmill. Later on, he worked for Clearwater Timber Products.
Dick passed away on July 20, 2010 at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater. He was 87 years of age. He is survived by his children: Betty (Alvin) Traub, Marie (Jim) Janzen, Carol Naruse, Deitrich (Elaine) Rempel, James (Dolly) Rempel, Jack Rempel, David (Jacquie) Rempel; his sister Margaret Willerton; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick was pre-deceased by his son, Robert Rempel, granddaughter Terri-Ann Swanson, his parents, and by numerous brothers and sisters.
Dick loved to fish and hunt. He was a hunting guide. He also loved horses. Dick attended the Mennonite Church.
A Memorial Service for Dick Rempel will be held at the Elks Hall in Clearwater, BC, on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. A graveside committal service will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater, with friends and family returning to the Elks Hall for refreshments and to share memories of Deitrich.
