It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ben Downey in Clearwater, B.C. on Jan. 24, 2008.

Ben arrived on Nov. 29, 1983, the second of two sons to Bill and Kathy Downey and a younger brother for Wade. He spent most of his life in Clearwater where he enjoyed fishing, skate boarding, and hanging out with friends.

Always a kind soul who rarely, if ever spoke badly of anyone, Ben was a gifted athlete who excelled in every sport he participated in. He gave 100 per cent to all of his endeavors whether it was a game of pool or a job he had to get done. He loved animals and was known to bring the odd stray home to his family to enjoy such as he did with his much-loved dog, Premium.

Ben leaves behind not just his family but a multitude of friends who all share memories of him as an honest, kind-hearted and generous young man who typically wore his heart on his sleeve. He will be missed.

Ben is survived by his parents, Bill and Kathy, his brother Wade, his grandparents, William Downey (Bill), and Jim and Lorna Miller (Kathy). He was predeceased by his grandmother, Lorraine Downey.

A Memorial Service for Ben Downey was held at Clearwater Secondary School on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, with Lloyd Strickland, Minister, officiating. The family would appreciate donations in memory of David Brennon “Ben” Downey to Forest View Place, Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, B.C. 250-674-2244. Funeral arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Clearwater, B.C. 250-674-3030.

“Sit high on that mountain Ben, your time on Earth is done, we love you”
