In Loving Memory of Clara Grace Rudlang
1914 to 2008
The family of Clara Rudlang sadly announces her passing at Forest View Place, Clearwater, BC on October 5, 2008 at 94 years of age. Clara was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan on August 4, 1914. She was predeceased by her husband Tony, her son Bruce, sister Ruby Neiman and brother Norman Baldwin. Clara is survived by her three daughters, Dorothy Braaten, Muriel (Robert) Smith and Katie (Lawrence) Redman, eight grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
Before meeting Tony, Clara had worked at the RCMP academy in Regina. She married Tony in Lucky Lake, SK in 1935. Two years later they moved to B.C., eventually moving to Clearwater in 1941. Clara enjoyed life to the fullest. With a small farm to run, cooking in logging camps, and looking after her family there was not much time to play. When they retired, Clara and Tony loved to fish and camp and enjoyed many years of RV traveling going to Alaska, Arizona and Mexico. They also enjoyed many extended trips to Norway, Sweden, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia and a 21 day cruise through the Panama Canal.
Clara belonged to the Royal Purple, Women’s Institute and Clearwater Community Club. Family was very important to Clara; she always had tea and freshly baked cookies whenever anyone arrived. Her passion was crocheting; she spent many hours creating 16 beautiful full size afghans which she gave to her family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 24 E. Old North Thompson Hwy, Clearwater. Lloyd Strickland will be officiating. Refreshments will be served at the Wells Gray Hotel following the service.
Clara’s family would like to thank the doctors and the staff of Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital and Forest View Place for all their loving care.
