B y r o n A r t h u r Baptiste passed away at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops BC on July 27, 2006, after a brief illness. He was 67 years of age.


Byron leaves behind to mourn his beloved wife of five years, Susan, his step-sons Ed Williams (and fianc̩ Teresa Ferguson Рwedding to take place on August 5, 2006 in Clearwater, BC), and Lowell Williams, his sister Audrey Vandenborre of Mississauga, ON, his sons Larry (Nina) Baptiste and Wayne (Rozie) Baptiste, both of Winfield, BC, grandchildren Ryan, Karley, Cherie (Travis) Carlson, and great grandchildren Taylor and Ryley. Byron was predeceased by his parents, Elmer Sidney Baptiste and Leona Catherine Baptiste (nee Bauman).


Byron had many skills and performed numerous jobs during his lifetime, including working as a licensed mechanic and an electrician.


He served his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1959 to 1962. He and his wife Susan moved to Blackpool BC two and a half years ago.


Byron liked to travel and he was actively involved in the Clearwater – Vavenby Lions Club. He also enjoyed participating as a carpet bowler with the Friendly Club in Clearwater BC.


Byron was always willing to help anyone, in any way he could. He was kind and caring. He was helping the Lions Club to serve people on the day he fell ill.


Following cremation, a Memorial Service to celebrate Byron’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 259 in Clearwater BC, with Lloyd Strickland, Minister, officiating.
