HANNA, (Bud) Thomas Fredrick
Born February 21, 1920 in Shaunavon, Sask. In 1934, the family moved to Benalto, Alberta, using two train
cars for the household goods and animals. In 1941 he left the farm to sign up with the RCAF. In 1942 he met his wife, RCAF WD Geneve Watson and they married in 1945 spending the next 61 years together. They bought a farm in Evarts, Alberta, raising grain, cattle, pigs, chickens, as well as three children: Thomas George (Gail), Jerry David (Vicky), Nancy Geneen (Ken). In December 1960 they left the farm & moved to Blue River, B.C. where they built a motel, service station & a construction service, from a chunk of forest on beautiful Lake Eleanor. In addition to being “so help me Hanna” when anything went wrong, he drove ambulance, was instrumental in building the Legion Hall, and the United Church, as well as many other buildings in town. In 1979 they “retired”, alternating between their Armstrong and Blue River homes, spending time travelling all over visiting and representing the Legion.
Over his 86 years, he made no enemies and held no grudges. He left this world peacefully on September 30, 2006, leaving a large family - wife, children, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren as well as many “adopted” people, “baby brother” Walter (Eileen), “big sister” Audrey, and a large circle of friends to miss him. His sister Phyllis predeceased him. In his full and active life he served his country, his fellow man, and his God. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice. Memorial Service was held at Armstrong Zion United Church, Tues. October 3rd. Rev. Lorraine Powell officiated.
