Sept 18, 1932 - Nov 6, 2010

Taken suddenly from her family, Audrey is survived by her loving partner of 25 years Ed Ryll, son Dave (Linah) of Powell River BC, daughter Donna (Iain) of Perth Australia, daughter Linda (Bill) of Clinton BC, son Gary (Alecia) of Kamloops BC, son Murray (Sherri) of Clearwater BC, daughter Lorna of Abbotsford BC, daughter Sherry (Denis) of Williams Lake BC, daughter Marni (Rob) of Saskatoon Sask, grandchildren Jason (Lori), Karry, Vincent, Sophie, Broderick, Derek, Danielle (J.P.), Sami (Trevor), Maegan, Jacob, Nicole, Brian (Donna), Danny (Nicky), Tara, Connor, Jordan, great-grandchildren Tyler, Kate, Liam, Ruby and Matthew, sisters Doreen and family and Fern and family, Ed's family Carla (Don), George, grandsons Jamie, Corey, Jory and Derrick. Audrey had numerous family in Alberta, too many to list, but she loved every one of them and enjoyed catching up with them regularly. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Fred, daughter Sandra-Lee, parents Ferdinand and Wanda, and brothers-in-law Dick Hobson and Mike Pelton.

Audrey was born in Edmonton AB and moved to Clearwater in 1950. With her passing, it was noted that Audrey gave birth to nine children, but she was a Mom and Grandma to so many more. Her door was open to all and she took great pleasure in providing a home cooked meal along with her famous homemade buns. In the past few years, Audrey had hosted many world travellers at her B&B, often having Grandpa Ed cook the "Canadian" pancakes that were the first many of her visitors had ever tasted.

Audrey was known to be a great gardener, knitter, baker, hockey player (until age 74) and softball player. Audrey loved country music and rodeos, having travelled to the Calgary Stampede, the Williams Lake Stampede and the Barriere Fall Fair & Rodeo. Proudly displayed in her house were the medals she won in the arm wrestling competition at the Williams Lake Stampede. She also travelled extensively oversees to visit her family.

Audrey served her community as a volunteer canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society, as a member of the Dr. Helmcken Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Clearwater Community Baptist Church.

A funeral service was held for Audrey Madden at the Clearwater Baptist Church on Saturday, November 13, 2010; a graveside committal service followed at the Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater, BC. All then gathered for tea at the Blackpool Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Box 1078, RR1, Clearwater BC V0E 1N0.
