Alice M. TURNER

August 28, 2011

Alice Turner passed away at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, B.C., on Aug. 28, 2011 after a sudden illness. She was 80 years of age. Born Alice Otto in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Alice is survived by her sons, Don, Gerry and George; grandchildren Jessica, Tyson, Tori, Kyle, Ashley and Mathew; and great grandchildren Owen, Seth and Kaylee. Alice was predeceased by her brother, Earl Otto, mother Jessie Bell Otto (nee Gordon), and her father, Fred Otto.

Alice's family and her career were very important to her. Her fondest memories were of her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her family, and her wish was to be remembered as a good mother and an honest and caring person. Her close friends were very important to her. Anyone who knew Alice knew that she had a great sense of humour and she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. When it came to serious matters, Alice was straightforward and direct.

Alice spent her career of nearly 50 years as a nurse caring for the sick; she worked in many different hospitals and her last employment was for the Red Cross as an Outpost Nurse in many remote locations throughout B.C. She loved the natural beauty of B.C., and enjoyed fishing in rivers or lakes throughout the North Thompson Valley. She loved her garden, her favourite flower was the rose, and her favourite colour was blue.

A small private family gathering will be held for Alice Turner. Arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Clearwater, B.C., www.NorthThompsonFuneral.com tel: 250-674-3030.
