Alan James PASTOREK

August 28, 2008

PASTOREK, Alan James

Born November 29, 1952, at New Westminster, B.C., Alan passed away peacefully

surrounded by his family on August 28, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. He is

survived by his long time companion Corinne Douglas, step daughter Susan, and beloved

son, Joey. He will be sorrowfully missed by his mother Alma, sister Judy (Wilson)

Cowan, brother Larry (Connie), and sister Carol (Bob) Cuming. Alan will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends. He was predeceased by his father Frank in 2006. Alan grew up in Pitt Meadows, B.C., and spent many years in the Lower Mainland, starting his career at Pelton’s Reforestation and continuing at Riverview Hospital first as a cook and then as a staff member in the lab After retiring in 2007, he moved to Clearwater, B.C. where he was looking forward to spending his time with Joey, and to working on his many construction projects. He was so happy to have found a place where the local ‘Kwik-e- Mart’ sold his favourite apple fritters! Although Alan only lived here for a short time, he made many new friends who will miss his dry wit and his storytelling. Alan will be remembered for his superior woodworking and cabinet making skills, his wicked sense of humor, and his great ability to turn a short story into a much longer one. Prayers were held Thursday evening September 4 and funeral services on Friday, September 5 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 20285 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge, B.C. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
