Winter has finally arrived and District of Clearwater plans to celebrate that event by hosting Winter Festival 2012 next weekend.
The fun will kick off with an eight-team Bantam hockey tournament at the Sportsplex on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Clearwater Ski Club will provide free skiing at the ski hill on Saturday, Feb. 4. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and rentals are available.
The sixth annual Arts, Health and Wellness Expo will be held at Clearwater Secondary School, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Expo will showcase local services and service providers, small home based business, and community organizations.
There will be free cross-country skiing on Saturday and Sunday, courtesy of Wells Gray Outdoors Club. Groomed trails should be available at North Thompson Park, Candle Creek, Raft River School and Clearwater Secondary.
Sunday morning, 9 a.m. to noon, Clearwater Rotary Club will host the Ice Man Fishing Derby on Dutch Lake. Registration can be done at Super Save or Aspen Auto, or at the lake. There will be games and prizes for the kids, and refreshments will be available.
The Clearwater Winter Festival weekend will wind up with free family skating and refreshments at the Sportsplex on Sunday, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
