Tay Briggs of Information Wells Gray has announced that all of the backcountry of Wells Gray Park will be open to the public as of Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 8 a.m.
The opening includes such popular destinations as Moul Falls, the flower meadows, and the West Lake Loop, she said.
Crews were reportedly removing signs as of Monday evening following several days of cool and wet weather.
The park was totally closed to the public at short notice on July 9 after major forest fires sprang up near Little Fort.
It was re-opened on July 25 but then, following continued hot and dry weather, partially re-closed on Aug. 5.
Only the major day-use sites along the park corridor, plus campgrounds and marine campsites remained open to the public.
All other areas of the park (and adjacent recreation sites and trails that provide backcountry entry points) were closed to the public.
Supervised, commercially guided groups continued to have access to the park.
Information Wells Gray is the consortium of Clearwater and area businesses that operates the Wells Gray Infocentre.
